I have always been drawn to the teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.  His kindness, compassion, and incredible love simply emanates from his being.  Enjoy this list that he created at the change of the millenium.  Choose one off the list and decide to fully embrace it.

Nothing inspires me more than stories of people who have overcome amazing odds to succeed.  The Feel Good Moment for this week is one such story.  It helps remind me that, yes, I can do "it" -- whatever "it" is.  I can make changes in my life.  I can heal myself.  I can love freely.  I can forgive the unforgiveable.  I can create miracles.  I can live my dreams.  Oh, and you can, too!

Do you see yourself as a hard worker?  Someone who is lazy?  An over-eater? An under-achiever?  A perfectionist?  Strong-willed?  Weak-willed?  We all have labels for ourselves -- sometimes they are buried quite deep!  All of these labels limit us, keep us defined in a way that doesn’t allow us to move forward in life.  If you need to label yourself, label yourself as compassionate, loving, flexible, and ready for what life is bringing next!

2012 will be the most amazing year of your life so far!

Todays' musing and feel good moment are one and the same.  Nick has had a previous showing as a Feel Good Moment because he is so amazing.  Let his story propel you into 2012 with excitement, expectation, and a feeling that you CAN do what you want to do. 

For the past four weeks I have been guiding you on a journey to a fabulous new year.  I have challenged your beliefs around not having enough time to do what you want, not feeling like you in control of changing that which needs changing in your life.  I have reminded you to dream and had you choose one thing that you want to be sure is different one year from today.  Are you feeling now like you could make a change?  That you really can do something different in 2012?  Then, it is time to take some action!

Fifth Assignment:

• Write down what you want in the positive.  (In other words, not: "I don't want to be fat." Instead: "I want to be fit and vibrant."  Not: "I don't want to be in debt." Instead: "I want to be financially free.")
• Write it down in your calendar at the beginning of each month. (Use the calendar I created – My Inspirational Year – to have my support all year round!)
• Now, is it something that takes a multitude of action steps (such as find a new job)?  Or is it one step (such as exercise daily)?  If it takes a multitude, write down your next three action steps.  If it is one, write down that one step.
• Finally, when will you do it?  Ummm...what about now?  It doesn’t matter if your one action step takes a few moments or a day, doing one thing within the first 24 hours of setting an intention is a powerful step toward moving toward accomplishing your goals.  Now, be sure to set aside a regular time each day/week/month (whatever is necessary) to keep going!  (Here are some thoughts I wrote awhile ago on finding time to expand whatever it is you want to expand!)

What do you want to be able to say about your life on December 19, 2012
that you cannot say now?

Now that you have began to dream about your life and what you really want, what would you like to create for 2012 to get you closer to your Big Dream?  Just so we get this straight, I don't care if you think it is possible or you are capable of it, that comes later.  For now, set your intentions for the year based on what you really want for your life; let the excitement of your Big Dream get you excited about your intentions.  “We must learn to reawaken and keep ourselves awake, not by mechanical aid, but by an infinite expectation of the dawn.” (Henry David Thoreau)  Let your Big Dream be the dawn; start expecting it!

Fourth Assignment: (Although you probably figured this one out! :-) )  What do you want to be able to say about your life?  Is there something you want to have?  A way you want to be?  Think about it and write it down...Did you know:  You are 200% more likely to achieve a goal if you write it down.  You are 400% more likely to achieve a goal if you tell someone.  SO, I would like to support you in achieving this goal!  Add to the comments on the blog post what it is that you want to have by 12/19/12 between now and next Sunday.  I will randomly pick someone from the comments to receive my Goal Setting From the Heart E-Course.  Come on...you have nothing to lose and everything to gain!

Second Assignment:  What parts of your life feel out of your control?  (By the way, feeling out of control sounds like, "If only...then I would..."  So, "If only my husband wouldn't...then I would be happy."  "If only my job wasn't so...then I would be relaxed."  When you say "If only..." you feel out of control.)  What would it feel like to have those areas in your control?  What would it look like?

monday morning musing: finding time

You always find time when it is important.

Okay, so I cannot even begin to count the number of times I have heard from clients (and friends and relatives and students and the cashier at the grocery store...) "I can't find the time to..." especially when it is connected to doing more for yourself, finding time to create more in your life.  But, think about it, you always find time for something that is important. 

I recently had two close friends, both with very crazy schedules, experience unexpected family emergencies that included hospital stays.   Everything in life was set aside to attend to the one in the hospital.  BOTH called me and reflected on how easily life was set aside, all the "urgent" things didn't seem so urgent, in order to take care of their loved ones.  BOTH reflected on how time was easily found when they thought it was necessary.  BOTH reflected that maybe they would be able to find time in their lives now for doing what they have always wanted to do.  (One wants to write a book, the other create a design business.)

Are you ready to no longer use "I don't have time" as an excuse?  (And if you just had the thought, "Yeah, but, Laura, I really don't have the time..." then you need the next few weeks even more!)  For the next few weeks, I invite you to explore the possibilities for 2012 with me as we begin our Great New Year's Day Countdown!  Let me inspire you to make 2012 amazing!

First Assignment: (You didn't think I was going to let you get away with not doing anything? :-) )  Think about this...if you DID have time, what would you do with it?  What have you been wanting to do that you haven't "found the time" to do?
