Here's to forgetting you can't.

So, here's a fabulous quote from one of my yoga students, "I finally did Chatarunga when I forgot I couldn't!"  I LOVE that thought.  We limit ourselves by what we think we can (or can't) do.  So, what in your life do you need to forget that you can't do?  (Did I mention that this student is a spunky, 70-something year old?  NEVER tell me you are too old to learn!)  (Also, the photo is the pose she did -- yep, she is pretty amazing!)

A client found this for me on a greeting card years ago.  The message still rings in my ears when I feel fear rear its challenging head in my life.  It reminds me of a quote that I heard in Princess Diaries: "The brave may not live forever, but the the fearful do not live at all."  Letting fear rule our life keeps us from being free.  Fear is like being in a box, holding us in and keeping us from being our fullest beings.  Where in your life are you feeling fear?  What step are you avoiding?  What can you do TODAY to take even the tiniest step out of your box?

What if...?

“What if...this turns out worse than I thought...”  Sound familiar?  We often let our imaginations go down a negative path, wanting to see any and all possible outcomes, so we can “be prepared".  But does it really prepare you?  And how often does that terrible thing actually happen?  It just serves to make you feel scared.  (And we have already discussed not making any decisions from fear!)  I have a friend who calls it “awfulizing”.  So when you catch yourself awfulizing – STOP.  Try this one instead: “What if...this turns out BETTER than I can imagine?”  How does THAT feel?

What would you do... 

...right now if you had no fears?  If there were no limitations around money, time, or support?  (Which are merely self-imposed, by the way...)  What would you do?  What would leave you feeling deeply satisfied and content?  What would your life be like?  Can you imagine how you would feel?  Is there something you can do, right now, to get you closer to what you really want?  Closer to that deeply satisfied feeling?  Do it today!  (And be sure to watch this week's Feel Good Moment for further inspiration!)

monday morning musing: is it really "good enough"?

Is it really "Good Enough"?

I once had a student who told me her life was "good enough".  She said it in such a sad, resolved sort of way,  I knew what she was really saying was, "I don't have the energy to change it."  or "I am scared to make changes." or "I don't think I am capable of changing it."  Is that how you feel?  My guess there is at least one area of your life in which you feel helpless, frustrated and scared.  (It could be your money situation, relationship, career, health.)  But you CAN change it.  Don't let "good enough" be "good enough" anymore!  Here is where you start: the weakest link.  Find one very tiny thing you CAN change. It does not matter how small it feels to you.  Making a change, any change, will give you the energy and excitement to make another change.  (And be sure to check out the FGM for this week for added inspiration!)
"Good enough" has another form it takes.  Stay tuned for next week!

So, this week's feel good moment is from my collection of videos.  This video is from when I moved past one of my fears.  Here is a post about when Sierra moved past one of her fears - it will help you fully appreciate the Positive (yes, positive) side of fear.  Oh, and be sure to check out last week's FGM.  Last week I introduced this video by saying it was about fear and only 1/3 of you checked it out!  Had to chuckle, perhaps that wasn't the best way to introduce that video.  You need to trust that I will only give you good stuff!  :-) Enjoy!

So, anyone out there feeling scared?  There isn’t a single person in my life who isn’t being challenged somehow in their life.  Things are getting a bit rough here on planet earth, and we are feeling the pinch.  Now more than ever we need to remember we have the capacity to choose – choose to see the amazing things!  Choose to live fully and vibrantly, choose to see the miracles! 

What can you do TODAY to see something wonderful, to be more vibrant, to find a miracle?
