As I mentioned in my last post, I have been contemplating what it means to receive. (I had a student challenge me to think about what it means to “actively receive”. I am starting with just plain receiving and then will move on to the active piece!) I realized that I wasn’t receiving well in certain areas of my life. (You know if you are not receiving well if there are areas in your life that are less than perfect. The Universe is sending you what you want. You don’t have it if you aren’t open to receiving it.) As always, I take what I want to learn to the mat.
I chose Savasana for my study because it is the ultimate pose of surrender and reception. In fact, some translate the word to “sponge” because that is what you are. A sponge, soaking up everything coming to you. The first step in Savasana is total surrender. Truly letting go and releasing, physically, mentally, emotionally.
So, I discovered in Savasana that my energy field was pushing out. It wasn’t just large, it was actually pushing out. If my energy is always pushing out, how can I receive in? It is like a stream, how can water flow upstream? What is interesting is I also noticed the more fear I was feeling the more I was pushing out, the less I was allowing in. You cannot receive if you haven’t released yourself. Try it in Savasana yourself. What do you feel?

Laura, thanks for re-orienting my vision of one of my most favorite poses! Brilliance! And something I think so many women can benefit from. Thank you! xo
