Yoga pose of the month: Let's study Baddha Konasana (Bound Angle Pose) this month. Take this month to spend time in this pose, teach it to your students, bring it into your practice, and bring on a deeper sense of reflection on it. Here are some ideas for you to consider:
- How closely to your pelvis can you bring the feet and still stay aligned on top of the sitbones?
- Where do you feel the resistance to moving more deeply? Can you use your breath to deepen the pose?
- Are you really aligned over the sit bones? (Hint: You aren't -- we are never "perfect" in our alignment and there is something you can always do to connect more deeply to your alignement. Do you need to tip forward or back on your sit bones? Arc or round your lower back a bit? Play with this one...you might be surprised!)
- If your knees are high (above your hip bones), try sitting up on a blankets or a block. How does that feel?
If you are a teacher, challenge yourself to teach this pose in each class this month. Add this component: Can you find something new to teach (and learn)?
