Ready? Say, "YES!!"

"To say 'Yes' to life is at one and the same time to say 'Yes' to oneself." (Dag Hammarskjold)  You have set an intention for 2010 and you know it is coming from a positive place.  You are saying "yes" to yourself!  Are you excited yet?  And a bit afraid?  I hope so!  Yes, it is true...a goal should be exciting and just a bit scary.  You need to push yourself enough to make it a challenge or it won't inspire you!  2010 is just around the corner...

Topic: All month we'll be helping you de-stress for the holidays.  Whatever religion you practice or spiritual path you are on, this time of the year is one celebrated by all as the season of light, where we connect with others and spread joy. Too many of us are feeling disconnected because of the economy, the various wars or our own personal situations. Talk with us as we discuss ways to bring meaning back to your holidays!  (Original Airdate: 12/14/09)

Ideas:  First and foremost, challenge your beliefs around what you feel you "should" do.  You don't have to do something.  Make sure it is coming from your heart or don't do it or have the other person "seduce you with their needs".

Ideas for stress-free giving:

• Time: commit to spend time with a friend rather than exchanging gifts
• Food: make cookies, breads, spice mixes, food kits to share with friends
• Homemade Gifts: scarves, soaps, beeswax candles

Make new rituals:

• Bowling
• Chinese food
• New pajamas and polar express
• Change what you have always done unless you truly enjoy it

Are you moving toward what you want
or away from what you don't want?

It is time to continue the series on setting New Year's Intentions that really work.  You now know what you want for your life (or you are just beginning to get a vision) and you have some ideas for 2010.  Now be sure you want what you want for positive reasons.  Instead of, "I want to exercise because I am afraid of getting fat" make it "I want to exercise because I love the feeling of vibrancy it gives me!"  Feel the difference?  Once gets you excited the other leaves you feeling dread.  Once is moving toward what you want (feeling vibrant) that the other is moving away from what you don't want (getting fat).  Not only is it much easier to accomplish intentions steeped in excitement rather than dread, frankly, life is meant to be joyful.  Let your goals be joyful, too!
