A few years ago I realized I used my shower in the morning to settle into "awfulizing". I would think of all the scary "what ifs" I could and just get myself into such a state of fear.

Once I caught myself, I decided to make my shower a time for grateful thoughts and inspiration! I now use the time to think of all ways my life is already fabulous and what I still am excited to create.

i like the word "awfulizing." I have a friend who can find a down side to everything and I find it exhausting to be around; it's like the energy gets sucked out of the space we're in. I'm not looking for "over-the-top, bubble happy" but just not a downer comment on every observation. Gratitude for what we have, even if it's just the feel of the water in the shower, can start the day down a better path.

Karen, what a great thought! Right now I am grateful for my quite house due to my finally sleeping children! :-) Thanks for sharing, my dear!

"Awfulizing." Yes, I do that all the time.

Whenever I catch myself, I usually try to turn it around by asking, "If the worst thing that could happen really happens, how will I handle it?" That helps a little.

But you are right, the worst thing never does really happen. :-)
