You already spend what feels like all your free time working, doing all the little things it takes to keep your business afloat. (And you still want time for your own practice...) The thought of finding time to do even more can be simply overwhelming. Yet you know you want and need to because there is more you want to do! Sound familiar?
Here's what you do: Set aside a regular time that is for developing your business and nothing else. Let this time be as sacred as your personal practice. Frankly, it doesn't have to be much time, even once a month will make a difference. Maybe right away in the morning for 30 min or every Friday for two hours or the first Sunday of the month. My time is every Thursday afternoon for 1-3 hours. Be sure you use the time for a project, decided ahead of time (you can waste the whole time trying to decide what to do!). No other projects are for that time. Don't check your email, don't open your browser. Get a cup of tea, start your water fountain, light a candle, and go!
I keep a list of projects I want to work on. During my development time I work on the next one on the list and and work on that project until it is completely done. I used to get distracted easily, starting one project then jumping to another one. One day I realized I had 12 partially finished projects (including my book, Awaken to Joy)! Now I work on my current project until it is done, market copy written, and my marketplace set up.
I guarantee this time will change everything. Even one hour a month will begin to change things. What would make finding time worthwhile for you? What do you want to create? Once you are excited about where you are going, it becomes easier to create the time (and be dedicated to it).
