I am absolutely delighted to introduce a luxurious new program coming in just a few weeks: Self-Care Virtual Salon brought to you by my good friend, Lora Sasiela. This fabulous opportunity brings to you 21 self-care techniques, right to your inbox, from Lora's fabulous tool kit and a few, hand-selected experts. (Yes, yours truly is one of the experts!) I loved this idea so much, I had to interview Lora and get more of a scoop.
Tell me about yourself. What is your story?
Ah, my story. We all have one, don't we! One of my mentors says "my mess is my message." I love this because it rings true for me. Growing up I was one of those kids who was always taking care of others and this morphed into an adulthood career as a psychotherapist. I did that work for almost 20 years and am grateful for all the people I have been able to support on their healing path. But, as is so often the case for healers who neglect to replenish, I got burnt out. So, I quit my practice last year to regroup. I became a yoga teacher and was magnetically drawn to restorative yoga, which is what I needed a lot of myself.
It saddens me that there is an epidemic lack of self-care and replenishment for women {especially moms}, and the Self-Care Virtual Salon is one way I can support women in living fuller and richer lives. I spent so much time researching and learning how to revitalize myself, and I'm thrilled to share all this secret sauce! ;-)
Why self-care? What are the benefits?
The benefits of self-care are far and wide. But when we do something, anything, to reduce our stress and 'fill our cup,' our stress hormone {cortisol} lowers. So there are definite positive physiological affects to these. It also feels good emotionally to take care of our own needs. It's empowering to honor that our needs are important and worth attending to. Taking care of our self means that we feel valuable enough to do so. That we are worth it.
And as that old saying goes, you truly can't give from an empty cup. Most women struggle with their needs because we are socialized to disown them. The beauty of the tips I'll be sharing in the Salon is that each one takes 10 minutes or less. I know how busy we all are, and my intention is to offer tips and tools that can be seamlessly integrated into one's day.
What is your favorite self-care technique?
My top three are baths {no wonder given I have Pisces all over my chart!}, being in nature, and spending time with my beloved girlfriends.
What is your favorite technique shared by one of your experts?
Oh, that would be like having to pick a favorite child! :) I hand selected the contributors to the Self-Care Salon because they all have very special gifts to share and I want to introduce my community to their brilliance.
What will people expect after 21 days?
Everyone is leaving the Salon with a nicely stocked self-care tool kit. These universal and timeless tips can be accessed at a moments notice, providing grounding, renewal, and revitalization within 10-minutes.
All right, y'all, hope to see all of you out there taking care of yourself! Thank you, Lora, for your time. I am excited to do the salon myself!
